Niche’s Metro and Suburb Data

Metro boundaries on Niche are proprietary and do not come directly from the US Census. It is very common for metro and suburb classifications to cross county and even state lines. We are working on our end to adjust how these areas are listed. The locally perceived metro area for each major city can change drastically based on geography and culture. Metro classifications are subjective and are typically based on a reasonable commute to the city center. It will take some time on our end to sort through the data and find the best way to categorize each location.

To ensure that we have consistent and verifiable data across all Niche profiles we source our information from government agencies including the U.S. Census, CDC, U.S. Geological Survey and surveys submitted by Niche users. We update information as it is updated within these agencies and becomes available to us.
